DVB-T:  Digital TV went on the air in Berlin in early 2003 to replace the existing analog network. Plans are in progress to expand the network nationwide by 2005. Currently, 27 channels are available and receivable with the use of a decoder box that retails for approximately 200 Euro.  Monthly fees for access to public television are 15 euros per household with one television and one radio set.  Public assistance is available for under-privileged families.

CABLE TV:   93 percent of households in the Berlin/Brandenburg area have access to either Cable or satellite television (280 channels from across Europe and the world). Both Cable and satellite deliver the original 27 DVB-T channels.  Cable television offers a choice of packages with 91 channels available at:
