THE INSANITY OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

TRUMP IS THE MOST POPULAR PRESIDENT

AMONG REPUBLICANS IN THE MODERN ERA

EVEN MORE POPULAR THAN REAGAN

AND ONLY SECOND TO GEORGE W. BUSH AFTER 9/11

According to a chart created by consultant Bruce Mehlman, using Gallup’s presidential approval ratings, President Donald Trump is the most popular president among Republicans in modern history, second only to George W. Bush in the aftermath of 9/11.

Phillip Rucker, a writer for the Washington Post, has a theory to explain Trump's astounding popularity.

“In President Trump’s telling, which can often be more imaginary than real, he is a victim — a long-suffering, tormented victim,” Rucker writes, pointing to various examples of Trump deeming things to be “unfair.” (The Washington Post, 6-4-18)

“For Trump, this posture makes and preserves political power,” he writes. “He has created around himself an aura of unfair persecution — by the nation’s elites, Democrats, the media and law enforcement — that inspires sympathy from and solidarity with his aggrieved supporters.” (The Washington Post, 6-4-18)

Yet considering the way Donald Trump has conducted himself, and his insane policies, this is a reflection of the insanity of the Republican Party. The Trump Administration is dangerous to life itself. This is a party that pulled the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement. This is a party that has made tireless attempts to destroy the Affordable Care Act (which would take away healthcare from 20 million people), roll back protections for women and LGBT minorities, embolden the KKK, and is pushing for reprivatization of prisons and harsher drug sentences.
